Jay Leonhart offers two one-man one-bass shows: "The Bass Lesson" & "Nukular Tulips"
NUKULAR TULIPS:
Join acclaimed jazz bassist Jay Leonhart for his new one man-one bass show, “Nukular Tulips”™ .This mild mannered jazz musician who has played with everyone from Tony Bennett and Marian McPartland to James Taylor and Queen Latifah seems to have a lot of time in between bass notes, which allows him to take a look around the world and see what’s going on. Of course reality is a subjective matter, and Jay's interpretation is even more so.
Nonetheless starting from George Bush's (and Jimmy Carter's) mis-pronunciation of "Nuclear", going back to the tulip crisis in Holland in 1620, Jay Leonhart has a lot on his mind that he seems to feel must be expressed. From the Lonely Cowboy to Leonard Bernstein, to Florida's Turnpike booth under thirty feet of rising ocean, Jay has been busy organizing his wayward neurons.
But it doesn’t stop there. Songs in “Nukular Tulips” ™ include the current legal woes of the Barbie Doll, the proliferation of Wonder Bras and Ducks spreading viruses all around the world. "Nukular Tulip's"™ tackles subjects that others dare not deal with.
From surviving a leap from the Golden Gate Bridge (not Jay, of course) to escaping from jail,(not Jay, of course) these songs and ideas will surely be important additions to our culture--relevant thoughts and ideas to get to know, and ultimately, live and love by.
